1st Quarter Reflections and Great Things to Come

Picture
Welcome to Mrs. Smoke's Class!
Now that we have met our first quarter milestone, I am proud to say that this year has brought some wonderful learning opportunities for both my students and myself.  From writing to reading to performing, we have all grown in our abilities and I could not be more proud.
As we progress into 2nd quarter, we are going to be digging deeper into different forms of writing as well as exploring different cultures.  Soon our class will be completing rounds of Skype calls and sharing even bigger news, so be on the lookout.

Reading Results are in - Action Adventure Wins

We have been collecting data on the different genres of books we read this quarter. Romance had a strong lead this quarter, but Action-Adventure took over the top spot.  On a different note, we had a surprising showing of Sci-fi thanks to a couple of popular series such as the Matched Series and the new Divergent
series. Total number of books read in the 1st quarter? 383, which is an average of 4.61 books per student.  Yay!
